my Friday

Black Friday... I've never in my life been a part of the craziness that ensues in every department, clothing, electronic, toy and whatever other store across america the moment the clock strikes 12. (or 2 or 4 or whatever)  My old room mate did ask me to join her in the mob this year but alas, I had to work.  Honestly, no biggie.  I would be off by 12 and home in time to watch my beloved Huskers beat the snot out of the CO buffs! GO BIG RED! =)  I got home from work and was going about my business when something happened that would force me to the stores that I had been so vigilant in avoiding.  My toilet clogged (TMI? sorry, but it's a fact of life, get over it), I had no plunger.  I called my closest friend, she had no plunger...Shoot! I would not be able to avoid the store all day as I had planned.  So I ventured out to Target, the closest store to my home.  The parking lot was packed, I was dreading entering those doors for fear of the insanity I would encounter.  It was not to be.  Really?  By 1 o'clock the stores are relatively normal (well for the Christmas holiday).  It probably helped that the doorbusters and major sales were done for the day and the Huskers in were town, kick-off about 1 1/2 hours away.  I actually dared to walk down to the women's clothes, safe.  Then back to the kids clothes, safe.  Then on to electronics and... the toy dept.  Not once did I encounter any crazy eyed screaming shoppers.  Everyone looked as though they were on a mission but not one that they would bulldoze small children if they got in their way. phew. Now I'm not sure I'm quite ready to tackle the 3 am crowd but I'd say the 1pm crowd is tame and bearable.  This I can deal with. =)
Once I got the aforementioned necessity I was off to another store, crazy I know but I was rather enjoying myself.  The mood in the air was catching.  I love this time of year.
I only shopped for just over an hour then I was off to cheer my boys in scarlet and cream to the Big 12 North Title (which we should have rightfully secured last week, but that's another tantrum, don't get me started).  I did manage to make get some up my Christmas decor up tonight.  Most of it is currently spread across my living room waiting to be put in place tomorrow.  We won't have our tree yet (we plan to get a real one this year, sweet!!!) but everything else should hopefully be in place waiting for the final touch.
Did I mention how I love this time of year.  It's amazing!!!
